Today School Zone Podcast welcomes Erika Griffin and Toni Rackley from Hutto Middle School. Erika and Toni are both interested in learning more about how they can involve their children into the community and the real world. This includes fundraising, and allowing middle school students to independently raise money for their school.
As their children get older, they pull away from fundraising solely through the PTSA. There are other booster clubs that compete with the PTSA. As children move into middle school, other clubs like band, orchestra, track, basketball, and football seek to fundraise as well.
In Hutto Middle School, the PTSA sought the opinion of the students to find what they would like to do and be involved in. They enjoy glow in the dark events, fun runs, and lock-ins. Their PTA kids want to be recognized for what they do in the PTA.
